Masks have played an important role in Chinese culture for centuries. With origins in shamanic rituals, the use of masks has developed over the years and today are used in Chinese theatrical performances, celebrations and spiritual ceremonies.
We have meticulously reproduced examples of theatrical masks and mounted them on to museum style bases to give the pieces a sculptural appeal. We suggest grouping the Chai, Good Official and Headdress Dancer pieces together for even greater visual impact.
