Commedia Dell’arte (“comedy of professional artists”) was a highly popular form of improvised comedy in Italian theaters in the 16th-18th centuries featuring stock characters with distinctive masks and costumes. The characters, each representing a fixed social type, were loved in the same way we love certain popular television characters today.
Our collection brings these beloved characters to life. The master mold for each piece was hand carved by our master carver. Each piece is hand painted in a polychrome and antique finish.
